Choose a starting point
For the Claude API, start with the maintained quickstart linked below. It describes listing available skills, choosing one in the message container, enabling code execution and retrieving generated files. Use the current SDK examples rather than copying an old model ID or beta header.
Prepare a small request
Provide one input, one desired output and the parts that must be preserved. Save a copy of the input and decide how to inspect the result before running the workflow.
Install a custom skill
Create a folder with SKILL.md or install the complete folder from a source you have reviewed. Check the intended agent, dependencies and license. A single displayed SKILL.md may not contain the scripts or assets required for installation.
Check the result
Confirm the skill matches the request, inspect the generated artifact and record the source version used. The guides and prompts on this site are documentation; viewing them does not execute the skill.
